Namaste,
I thought I'd answer a question that a few students have asked so far: I'm a beginner. What classes are suitable for me to take are your studio?
At the moment, all of our classes are open level. That means that beginners are welcome and encouraged. A key concept that beginners must know is to practice mindfully. That means take each posture step by step, use props, and do the beginner modifications that instructors suggest. If something hurts, feels very uncomfortable, or you are too tired, back off the pose and take a rest. Yoga is meant to be a personal step by step process. That means it will take a few classes for you to understand the postures. Come to class with an open mind and let the instructor know before class if you have any injuries or limitations.
If you do have a major injury or limitation, or would like a background on yoga and the use of the props and basic poses, I suggest that you attend the beginners workshop on Saturday or take a private lesson. Yoga is a personal practice, but because not everyone can take private lessons, we practice as a group. This means that not all of the poses will be suitable for your body just yet. Keep at it and enjoy this new exploration of your body, mind and soul.
I hope this helps! Please comment or write to ahimsaoakpark@gmail.com, our facebook, or twitter accounts if you have any questions or concerns.
Be Mindful,
Kelly
